Moluccan Cockatoo
A white parrot at a rest stop. We stopped for gas on the way to Poipet. I was searching for a restroom and cross path with this little guy. The bird in the photo is a Salmon-crested Cockatoo (Cacatua moluccensis), also known as the Moluccan Cockatoo. These cockatoos are recognized for their striking appearance with predominantly white feathers, a slight pinkish hue, and a large, retractable salmon-pink crest. They are native to the Moluccas (Maluku) islands in Indonesia.
Salmon-crested Cockatoos are known for their intelligence and strong emotional bonds with their owners, which makes them popular in the pet trade but also challenging as they require a lot of attention and stimulation. They can also mimic sounds and are quite vocal.
